A private jet is turned toward David, twenty minutes short of the reef. The Twin Otter flies on set days of the week, so the arrival date matters as much as the hour.
The line we searched: Avianca from Heathrow through Bogotá, Panama City by eight in the morning. The Twin Otter lifts at ten and is down by ten past eleven.
Eighteen hours and thirty-five minutes, door to airstrip. The Twin Otter is the one door a private jet cannot open.
The place
Islas Secas is a private archipelago of fourteen islands in the Gulf of Chiriquí, off Panama's Pacific coast, with a few casitas on one of them.
Guests reach the islands on the resort's own flights; the island airstrip takes nothing else.
