Manchester → Bali
— Two very different shapes of journey that arrive within an hour of each other.
From Manchester, Bali is a two-flight trip whichever way you cut it, but the cuts are genuinely different. Go via the Gulf and you fly two long legs of roughly equal length. Go via Southeast Asia and you fly one very long leg and then a short hop. Both land you in Denpasar around eighteen hours after leaving Manchester, and they can differ substantially in price.
The candidates
— 4 hubs worth putting in the same search
Emirates
Two legs of similar length and the most frequent departures from Manchester. The default, which is exactly why it is worth checking against the others.
Qatar Airways
Much the same shape as Dubai, usually a little cheaper, with a single-terminal transfer at Hamad.
Singapore Airlines
One very long leg then a short hop to Bali. The most comfortable final approach, and Changi is the easiest of the four to spend hours in.
Malaysia Airlines
Same shape as Singapore and often the cheapest of the four, though with fewer daily onward flights to Denpasar.
Totals include one connection and are approximate — schedules and layovers move. No fares here on purpose: they change daily, and the planner quotes them live rather than from this page.
Why the hub decides it
— and why one airline's site cannot tell you
Most travellers default to whichever Gulf carrier they have flown before and never see the Singapore or Kuala Lumpur routings, which are priced in a different market and sometimes materially cheaper. The two shapes also suit different people: one long sleep and a short hop is easier for some than two eight-hour legs, and no fare table captures that.
When to go
— the part a fare table will not tell you
Bali's dry season is April to October, and July and August carry a clear premium. The wet-season months are much cheaper and the hub spread is wider, since the Asian hubs discount more aggressively than the Gulf ones when demand softens.
Questions
— Manchester to Bali, briefly
What is the fastest way from Manchester to Bali?
All four routings land within about two hours of each other. Connection length decides the total far more than the choice of hub does.
Is it cheaper to fly via the Gulf or via Asia?
Neither reliably. They are priced in separate markets, which is precisely why comparing all four at once is worth doing.
Do I need a separate ticket for the Bali hop?
Not on these routings — each is sold as one itinerary by the hub carrier, so your bags are checked through.
Price MAN — DPS across every hub at once
One search runs DXB, DOH, SIN, KUL against live Google Flights data and lays them side by side — fare, total time, cabin, operating airline. You book at the airline, at their price.
More from the atlas
Dublin → Cape Town
North–south, so the obvious hub is London — and the obvious hub is often the wrong one.
CDG — CMBParis → Colombo
Sri Lanka has no nonstop from Europe worth planning around — four hubs are fighting over it.
MAD — HNDMadrid → Tokyo
A European hub keeps it short; a Gulf hub often keeps it cheap.
